This series was born in the quiet violence of mirrors and clothes that never fit right. "I Am a Beautiful Monster" is my way of confronting how the world looks at bodies like mine—bodies that don’t shrink, don’t conform, don’t play nice.
It’s about dysmorphia, but also defiance. It’s about seeing yourself through layers—of shame, of fantasy, of inherited fear—and deciding to keep going anyway. These works hold the discomfort, the distortion, and the deep longing to belong in your own skin. They are messy, sometimes raw, and always honest.
Through collage, self-portraiture, and symbolic detail, I explore the parts of myself I was taught to hate. The too-muchness. The not-enoughness. And in doing so, I find beauty not in perfection—but in the courage to be seen.
Because maybe the monster was never the problem. Maybe the monster was just me, unfiltered. And finally, that’s enough.
